Boat madness (Posted by: [#173181] Duke Kel´thas the Human (Richard Bossman), dat: 2015-09-12 11:17:00)

I have searched everywhere for the second signet ring. I have even farmed for a total of 200% sailing on 3 companions, imagine 2 captains and 1 comendor in one row boat, well it didnt change anything. All I can hear now is like Aragorns voice from LOTR "Is there no other way, IS THERE NO OTHER WAAY?!" I´m going mad.

Well, propably you should start looking around on the Island instead sailing around.
Im pretty sure that will give you a better chance :)

So ive found one of the rings, know where the third is, but the second ring, ive searched thru the fortress without any luck and i cant seem to find that castle that people have hinted at.

I have read a lot of the hints that are given to me by NPCs and understand he liked to travel a lot so have referred to the map multiple tmes, but I am still stuck on this one. Is there anything special I should be doing that I am unaware of? If you want to pm me that is fine :)

Balder travelled unlike no other, this is known. He would occasionally be spotted leaving an Inn somewhere and before you knew it talk would spread about a mysterious stranger arriving to town in another corner of the world. Indeed has none travelled around the world quite like Balder did.

Any further hints on this, I am well and truly stuck :S I have discovered information about different routes and faster ways to get from A to B but not entirely sure if A and B have to be particular points. I have read he traveled like the wind from the mountain tops to the plains but those locations havent got me anything

how to kill Hydras?? (Posted by: [#93739] Prince wolsa2 the Titan [MOC] (morris wols), dat: 2015-04-11 15:05:00)
|
Ive been killing hydras in SM for a bit lately, trying to complete a certain quest; but just as some time ago I cant get the 12 headed down.
I understand that hydras are one of the toughest creatures around, and that the 12 and 13th headed ones should be really hard to kill, but I am wondering if I could do anything more?
Ive talked to some alchemist, using my a special potion to help me; I have 5 quite okay companions helping me and my pet is capable of fighting for me too. Yet everytime I end u being exhausted after slaying 8 or 9 of the hydras heads so I guess Im not even half there keeping in mind that there is a 13-headed hydra too. (i killed the 11 headed in one try).
I think my gear is quite okay (not the best, but it is real damn hard to find the best of the best gear) and with 45K/45K points its not worse Id guess, and since I end up being exhausted after all the battle-rounds my life-points isnt the problem either.
Am I missing something what I can do to slay the 12 (and 13) headed hydra? It is getting annoying, and I spend several thousands turns searching for better gear both in the mountains as in a special quest place up in the sky...

I chopped all the heads of the 14-headed hydra. I will give you an advice. Alone you will be outmatched so try to raise the odds and search for strong and powerfull companions, ofcourse they will need to be experienced to have a chance and for this they will need hard and long traning. And Í would look for another pet. Maybe one that will weaken youre opponent? Try to envenom youre weapon. I would go for full offense.

Thanks! Also the others who gave suggestions;
I changed my pet, but I never really looked into poison-damage pets that much, so I think I just choose what some of the other top-players do have :) its not that I was staying with my ancient dragon for the fast speed (I cant spend all my turns anyway ;-)), but I guess you guys mean it is time for a different drague :)
If I may say, my followers arent at all bad, 2 paladins, 1 master doctor and 1 general (for extra battle rounds) and that kicks me up to 90% pay (and Id guess maybe up to 100% sooner or later)
Summoning is something I did try, but with the limited time given it is hard to be sure to find the beast you want to kill.
Ill go around though, searching for some ebtter gears, uppen my basic-values where possible and combine all my strengths and hope to be able to kill all the 14 heads soon :)
Thanks again to all for the tips!

I checked your profile and there are some things you need to improve to take down the biggest hydras.
First off, you must raise you basic strength to max. The basic strength has a very big impact on your damage output - much more than the strength bonus from weapons.
As general rule of thumb, use weapons that give both strength and attack bonus. In other words, look for Oden or Warrior items rather than Death.
Also, you are using the wrong pet! :)

Thanks, quite a few points which I can improve; raising basic strenght is easy, and Ill hope to find some better gear (but man, Ive spend a lot of time searching for my gears and I am well aware that it is not all that great stuff; it however is pretty darn hard to find the best equipment :)
a different pet? I think then I should be looking for something small? something that would fit in a box maybe?
Thanks for the tips; Ill start working on it! :)

I think FarFetched killed it without a single Rune item, but Im not 100% sure... He crafted most of his items anyway. But that was back in the days when we had followers instead of companions which may have been an entirely different story...
And no, the Beholder would be a lot worse than the Ancient dragon in this case! :)

It never hurts to have many companions going into battle, although theres a vast difference between bringing a squire or a paladin as Im sure you understand
Im quite satisfied with my raiding party myself

Mboy your Ancient Dragon sure looks fierce and powerful but have you ever heard the story of the Turtle and the Hare? Its not always the fast one that comes out ahead in the end!
Why not look at some of the legendary warriors and see what they use?
Ive heard tales of warriors summoning spirits of their ancestors to aid them, although I can imagine that being very costly and time consuming. Imagine summoning your late grandmother to battle? Hah! I suppose doing that must be a bit of a gamble!

Backpack (Posted by: [#136375] Grand Duchess Zanu the Troll [MOC] (Oscar Tranberg), dat: 2015-02-19 18:33:00)

Ive a question about the backpack!
I was on an adventure and found a bow that I wished to keep. However, I didnt want to replace it with the bow I had on my hand. My backpack was full with items that I wanted to keep, but equiped I had a pair of gloves that I wanted to switch for the bow.
Now, I went to my backpack and equiped my favourite gloves from there, so that my ugly gloves were now in my backpack.
Unfortunately, it didnt change in the "put in backpack -box".
So my question is, if I had replaced the gloves (that were now equiped, but stil in my backpack according to the adventure-page), what would have happened?
Unfortunately, I cant try it out myself hence my full, much for me desirable, backpack.

Re:Backpack (Posted by: [#93739] Duke wolsa2 the Titan [MOC] (morris wols), dat: 2015-02-22 10:21:00)

Id say that it would work out the way you wanted; equiipping your backpack and put your new bow in the slot you want, should give you the bow in your backpack and dropping your gloves.
|
|
Re:Re:Backpack (Posted by: [#6878] Princess Fang the Titan (Andreas Foldalake), dat: 2015-03-28 12:43:00)
|

Correct.
It doesnt matter what item is displayed - all that matters is the slot number. If you place it on slot 3, whatever is in slot 3 will be replaced.

Could someone please give me a hint on how to turn the red rune of Loke blue? I thought I needed to take the criteria for his red rune to the next level. But how far do I need to take it?
I would like to know if it is even possible to do at my lvl, or do I need a certain mage to help me beyond what is know possible?
Please help me before I reborn in despair! (you can always pm me...)

Ive a final idea, but it will cost me... However, im afraid I havnt completed enough laps for this theory to work!

That is not a simple question, most stats are good for multiple things; for example intelligence; intelligence makes you a bit stronger defence and offence wise, but it also is quite important when you are running though mazes or want to open chessures.
in the long run you can obviously say that every stat is important and that you want every skill and every bonus be as high as possible (frustrating is that that isnt possible ;-))
For starting with a new race I always try to put quite some stats in extra life; after that it is not that important what you do; everything benefits you one way or the other.

You can find info about basic stats in the Help / FAQ section.
The importance of strength to your damage is not really mentioned there though. You should know that your basic strength stat contributes A LOT more to your damage output than strength bonus from items.
Also, you are generally better off boosting your life than trying to raise your dexterity for defense bonus.
